It's a holiday here in Ontario today-- Family Day! So today's inspiration revolves around children and games.
While I was on my second maternity leave, there was someone who really inspired me to craft toys and games: Joel Henriques from Made by Joel. I really admire him as he's an incredibly talented artist and designer.
This is one of the project we did last year, the Zip Line Toy, that A enjoyed very much. We tweaked Joel's original idea as A was all about pirates. Though it seems pretty simple, this game of "flying" pirates to their castle kept him busy for a week! Talk about a good...

This picture is from the AGO (http://www.ago.net/) Art Gallery of Ontario. I still remember this day. T felt I needed a day "off". No children, no house chores. It was the first day since we moved to Milton I was going downtown Toronto alone. I really enjoyed it :)

Today we are out of town, a last minute improvised family trip to the West Coast.

Today’s behind the scene: preparing little Valentine’s goodies for A’s classmates. Although I know, I know, I should be working on my new designs and preparing the improvised upcoming family getaway to Victoria, B.C., I couldn’t resist making a little something.
Influenced by an image I saw on Babble.com: 25 Valentine’s Day Gifts to Sew For Your Little Guy (the red felt heart), I came up with a twist that would use my tools, expertise and that A could participate in a way (his signed drawing was printed on one side of the heart; he chose every pencil color; and he've put in the chocolates).
